WHAT IS MOVEMENT ACADEMY?

Movement Academy is a hybrid movement coaching program that fuses mind-body healing with physical therapy and exercise programming to empower people to be confident to move their body, build strength, and express themselves freely through movement.

Movement Academy is built for people who do not want to lean on quick fixes or passive treatments, but instead are looking to understand their problem, follow a plan made for their body, and know how to care for their body independently.

Through a full body in-person assessment, a personalized mind-body connection guide, and custom digital exercise routines our clients are shown how to build a lifestyle that enables them to stay strong and healthy now and for years into the future.

Our Mission

We help people who are passionate about understanding their own body on a deeper level injury prone or dealing with lingering pain restore movement they thought they’d lost through a holistic assessment, personalized education, and strategic in person or digital coaching so they can return to doing the movements they love.

Meet Dr. Eric

A smiling young man with dark hair and a short beard, wearing a black button-up shirt, standing against a plain white background.

I’m Dr. Eric Schulte, a Doctor of Physical Therapy based in San Diego and the founder of Movement Academy—a coaching program that teaches you how to strengthen the communication between your body and mind so you can build trust in your movement, overcome old injuries, and be confident to build strength so you can pursue your life dreams.

But before I ever became a clinician, I was a patient.

For nearly a decade, I was dealing with pain in my shoulder, neck, and hip and was confused about why I couldn’t overcome these injuries long after they should have healed. It all started with a right shoulder injury that started getting worse and worse each week. I started to believe every time I felt more pain, it must meant that I was damaging myself more. So I started avoiding movement—first certain lifts, then whole workouts, and eventually basic daily motions. My world began to shrink… and so did my confidence.

What I didn't realize until years later was that this was happening because my mind believed something completely different than whay my body actually needed.

See my mind believed the pain was causing further damage and that I should avoid it at all costs. But what my body actually needed was to be shown HOW to build trust that the pain could be changed or reduced in a way that would help strengthen the area and restore my movement again.

Despite scouring the internet for guidance, seeing specialists, getting surgery, and spending thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours in PT appointments, I didn’t get better. All because my mind and body were living in two different realities.

Then finally after years of learning, getting my Doctorate in Physical Therapy, practicing yoga, meditation, trauma release, and breathwork did finally make a breakthrough:

I discovered how to connect to my nervous system to retrain my mind-body connection to trust one another again.

That’s when everything changed.

After years of feeling lost and confused, I finally felt grounded to something that I knew would help me. It was inside of me all along. Through the power of breathing, mindfulness, and gradual exposure to movement I was able to rebuild my trust and confidence in my body again.

That journey led to the creation of Movement Academy.

Today, as I continue to regain my own strength and begin exploring exciting ways to move and exercise, I help others navigate the same challenges I went through— but starting by doing what I wish I had started with all along.

By combining in-person assessments and sessions, breathing techniques, digital exercise routines, and a plan that evolves as you build more trust my clients are able to make more predictable progress and chase new goals as they expand their movement capacity and strength.

This work is personal. I’ve been through it and found a solution that works for my clients, too.

So if you feel like this might be the missing link you’ve been looking for, request to get a phone call so we can see how I can help.
